More About the Book

At thirty-three years old, author Tomas Brunegard embarked on an eventful journey to become the CEO of the Stampen Group, one of the largest media companies in Sweden. He spent seventeen years at the top of a fast-growing company, followed by four years as the president of the World Association of Newspapers & News Publishers (WAN-IFRA), which is the global association of news media publishers. This all happened at a time when the media industry was shaken at its roots by new digital platforms.

During these years in his early forties, the question of What do I do with the rest of my life? loomed over his thoughts. Before he and his wife, Tina, knew it, they soon found themselves traveling to the jungles of Papua New Guinea and to the bushes of the Northern Territory of Australia with Mission Aviation Fellowship.

In The Reason, Tomas shares this story, candidly relaying his many successes and failures. He expounds on his thoughts on power, leadership, and freedom—issues with which he has wrestled his entire career. This book helps readers work through life questions Tomas deals with along his journey, such as: Why am I here on earth? What contribution can I make? Can I control my journey? Do I have a responsibility to make wise choices? And is there a purpose and a reason for it all?

Tomas Brunegard is the Executive Chairman of EuroAcademy Leadership Institute. He lives with his wife, Tina, in Gothenburg, Sweden, and they have four children together. Tomas holds a Master of Science in Business Administration from Gothenburg School of Business, Economics, and Law. He is also a musician, pilot, and beekeeper.
